National Directorate of Employment has commenced training of 50 youth in the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, NDE Director-General Malam Nasiru Ladan said the training would make the youths generate sustainable incomes and create jobs.
Ladan, who was represented by Mrs Naomi Nyadar, FCT coordinator of the directorate, said the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration on agriculture was to work with key stakeholders.
He said the policy of the Federal Government has opened opportunities for youths to embrace agriculture as a business, earn income and create mass employment.
Ladan added that the empowerment training programme would turn the trainees to commercial farmers with dependable farm income that would reduce commodity importation.
