In a bid to end communal clashes, kidnapping and Arm robbery in southern Kaduna state the Nigerian Army has launched a new operation title “Operation Harbin Kunama II”.
While flagging off the operation, at Zunuruk village in Kaura local government area, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai reassures that the army will not tolerate any act of criminality.
Declaring the operation open, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Buratai says the aim of the army is to ensure that the southern Kaduna and the nation in general is safe.
He also assures that the Nigerian armed Forces, and other security agencies would not allow peace to go out of hand.
He urged the trained officers to understand the geopolitical situation of the area, saying that would enable them to carry out their primary assignment effectively.
Speaking on human right, the Chief of Army Staff says the Nigerian Army identified it as a key to its operation everywhere.
General Buratai expressed satisfaction with the level of improvement recovered in the ongoing exercise, adding that it would serve as the training ground for the young officers.
In his remarks, the Governor of Kaduna state Nasir El-Rufa’i, says the operation was timely considering the security threat facing some parts of the state.
He said the crisis in southern Kaduna has being in existence for about thirty-five years and required tactical and strategic approaches to get rid-up.
The Governor reassured to arrest and prosecutes perpetrators of crises in the state as detrains to others and also urged public to embrace peace, and value one another irrespective of religion, political and socio-economic differences among them.
El-Rufa’i appreciated the Nigerian Army’s effort in promoting peace and harmony in the state and fight against criminalities.
